Key point

The back-pick punishes a sloppy secondary lead — it works because the runner relaxes after the pitch. Sell it with a quick, low throw.

Drill

Catcher back-pick reps right after receiving the pitch; the first baseman times his sneak-back to the bag with the throw.

Watch for

Throwing it into right field because nobody's covering — the first baseman must read the back-pick and get to the bag.
